Mahmood Molvi Urges MQM-P to Quit Federal Government Within Three Days

Karachi: Former Member of the National Assembly and National Dialogue Committee member Mahmood Molvi has urged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to give the federal government a three-day ultimatum and withdraw from the ruling coalition if it is serious about addressing Karachi’s issues.
In a statement responding to the recent press conference of MQM-P senior leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, Molvi said that if the party truly cares about the people of Karachi, it should immediately leave the government after issuing a three-day deadline.
He argued that MQM-P must demonstrate that the interests of Karachi’s residents are more important than ministerial positions and political offices.
Molvi further claimed that Karachi currently lacks an effective opposition force, leaving citizens without a strong voice to raise concerns over the city’s growing problems.
He said MQM-P would be in a stronger position to advocate for the rights of Karachi’s residents by sitting on the opposition benches rather than remaining part of the government.
His remarks came after Dr. Farooq Sattar warned of launching a protest movement against both the provincial and federal governments if the party’s demands were not addressed. Sattar had also called on the Prime Minister to visit Karachi and take immediate steps to resolve the city’s issues before the situation worsens.
Among MQM-P’s key demands are fair and transparent local government elections, solutions to the gas and electricity crises, and implementation of agreements relating to Karachi’s development. The party has also indicated that its 22 members of the National Assembly could consider moving to the opposition benches if its four main demands remain unmet.
