Authorities Launch Large-Scale Verification Drive Against Undocumented Foreign Nationals in Quetta

Quetta: Authorities have launched a large-scale search and verification operation in Quetta targeting undocumented Afghan nationals and other foreign nationals residing illegally in the city, in line with directives issued by the federal Ministry of Interior.

According to official sources, the operation began on Thursday and is being conducted jointly by the Frontier Corps (FC), Police, intelligence agencies, Special Branch, NADRA, the district administration, and local police officials.

During the first phase of the campaign, teams are carrying out door-to-door searches and document verification in Hazara Town, Alamdar Road, Mominabad, Nasirabad, Syedabad, Eastern Bypass, Pashtoonabad, Ghausabad, Chalo Bawri, Sabzal Road, Sariab Road, Nawakilli, and other densely populated and sensitive areas.

Officials said the objective of the operation is to identify undocumented foreign nationals, verify their legal status, and ensure implementation of the government’s immigration policy.

According to sources, the operation will also extend to major bus terminals, inns, hotels, rented houses, private institutions, workshops, factories, markets, and other commercial establishments to identify individuals residing or working in the country without valid documentation.

Authorities said the inspection teams have been provided access to relevant databases and official records to facilitate the verification process. Individuals possessing valid travel and residency documents will be treated in accordance with the law, while legal action will be taken against those found residing in the country illegally under Pakistan’s immigration laws and federal government policy.

Officials added that records will also be sought from landlords, hotel owners, and private businesses to identify those providing accommodation or employment to undocumented foreign nationals. Those found violating applicable laws could also face legal action.

Security has also been tightened at entry and exit points of the city, with enhanced vehicle and passenger screening at checkpoints. Authorities said the campaign is not a one-day operation and will continue, with its scope likely to be expanded to additional areas as required. They emphasized that all actions will be carried out in accordance with the law and through a transparent and professional process.
