PkMAP Says Security Situation in Balochistan Contradicts Government Claims, Calls for Effective Action

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, alleging that the province is facing widespread fear and uncertainty while government claims of improved law and order are not reflected on the ground.

The remarks were made during a meeting of the party’s Quetta district committee, chaired by Provincial Senior Vice President and Quetta District Secretary Syed Sharaf Agha at the party’s central secretariat. Senior party leaders reviewed organizational affairs and discussed the prevailing political and security situation in the province.

In a statement issued after the meeting, PkMAP leaders claimed that Quetta and other parts of Balochistan continue to experience rising incidents of robbery, theft, kidnapping, killings, and insecurity on highways, leaving citizens concerned about the safety of their lives and property.

The party referred to reports of the kidnapping of six people from the Zarghoon Ghar Dilawani area, the recent incident in Hanna Urak’s Killi Babri locality, and what it described as increasing insecurity in Kuchlak, Ghabarg, Nohisar, and other areas. It also mentioned social media reports of an attack on a private housing scheme in Chashma, saying such incidents have heightened public anxiety.

PkMAP questioned the government’s claims of maintaining its writ, asking why highways remain unsafe, why public and private development projects continue to come under attack, why criminal elements remain beyond the reach of law enforcement, and why victims are still awaiting justice.

The party further alleged that in some areas, including Kuchlak, armed robbers openly snatch motorcycles, assault citizens, and demand money without facing effective action from police. It also claimed that residents of Hazarganji had apprehended suspected thieves with weapons, but police were initially reluctant to register a First Information Report (FIR) until public representatives intervened.

Criticizing the government, PkMAP described official statements on the security situation as disconnected from the realities faced by the public. The party argued that lasting peace can only be achieved through the rule of law, effective action against criminal elements, and the protection of citizens’ lives and property.

The meeting also called on party workers to focus on public engagement, organizational activities, and political work rather than engaging in unnecessary debates or personal attacks on social media. Leaders urged supporters to promote the party’s official policies and the views of its chairman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, through digital platforms.

The statement reflects the views of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party. Government authorities had not publicly responded to the party’s allegations at the time of reporting.
