Quetta Kept Paralyzed for 13 Years, Restoration of Local Governments Is Urgent: Pakhtunkhwa MAP

**Quetta:** Leaders of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) have stated that the same political forces which obstruct local government elections today are responsible for keeping the Quetta Metropolitan Corporation under administrative control without elected representatives for the past 13 years, resulting in its complete deterioration.

Addressing election campaign events ahead of the December 28 local government elections in Quetta, PkMAP leaders said the metropolitan corporation has become dysfunctional. Despite laying off hundreds of employees, there are still no funds available to pay salaries, while the city’s sanitation system, handed over to a private company, has also failed to deliver results.

The speakers emphasized that resolving public issues at the neighborhood and street level requires the restoration and activation of local government institutions. They stressed that genuine solutions to citizens’ problems are only possible when elected local bodies are empowered and functional.

The remarks were made by PkMAP Provincial Senior Vice President and Quetta District Secretary Syed Sharaf Agha, Provincial General Secretary Kabir Afghan, Provincial Deputy Secretaries Nizam Askar, Sardar Idrees Baloch, Hazrat Umar Advocate, along with other provincial, district, tehsil, and local leaders during the inauguration of election offices, public jirgas, and corner meetings as part of the party’s campaign.

Party leaders appealed to the public to exercise their democratic right by voting in favor of PkMAP candidates, assuring that the party will take all possible steps to address public problems through the success of genuine representatives of the people.
