Injured Suspect in Karachi Rangers Camp Attack Makes Key Claims During Investigation

Karachi: An injured suspect arrested in connection with the attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi has made a series of claims during initial questioning, according to reports. Authorities have identified him as an alleged member of the banned militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

According to the suspect’s statement, he identified himself as Usman Ali and claimed he had entered Pakistan from Jalalabad, Afghanistan, along with three other individuals.

He alleged that his companions were Abdul Hadi, Janan, and Umar Farooq, and claimed that Abdul Hadi was killed during or after the attack.

The suspect further claimed that Janan threw an explosive device at the Pakistan Rangers camp. He also alleged that the group had arrived in Pakistan seven days before the attack and had stayed with Abdul Hadi, whom he described as a resident of Bajaur.

According to the suspect, the group was housed in an under-construction building before carrying out the attack. He further claimed that the weapons used in the assault had been brought from Waziristan by Abdul Hadi.

The suspect stated that he was shot while attempting to flee the scene and was subsequently captured.

He also claimed that before joining the group he did not know the difference between the Pakistan Army and the Rangers, and alleged that he had been subjected to extremist indoctrination by members of the militant group.

The statements attributed to the suspect have not been independently verified, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding the ongoing investigation.
