E-Challan Applies Only to Karachi, Fines Will Not Be Reduced: Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah

**Islamabad:** Sindh Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah has announced that the e-challan system applies only to Karachi and that the government has no plans to reduce fines.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Shah said the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board meeting was held to activate divisional boards across the province. He added that improvements would be made throughout Karachi and the waste collection system should function efficiently from households.
Commenting on political statements by MQM, the minister said the party was trying to strengthen its position through such remarks. He noted that he has been in contact with MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami, adding that MQM had previously created controversy by raising the demand for a new province. “If it were hot weather, we would have offered them a cold drink — let them say what they want,” he remarked.
Shah reiterated that the **e-challan system is exclusively for Karachi residents and the fines will not be reduced**, stressing that collective efforts are needed to improve the city.
He added that the local government system is being empowered and questioned why MQM avoided local body elections, noting that PTI had abolished the local government setup in Punjab during its tenure.
The remarks come after reports surfaced suggesting that the Sindh government was considering public demands to reduce e-challan fines.
