Indian Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father with Axe After Argument Over Alcohol

A 30-year-old man has been arrested in India’s Jharkhand state for allegedly killing his father with an axe following an argument over his drinking habits, police said.
According to Indian media, the incident took place in Kirpani village of Bokaro district. The suspect, identified as Arjun Karmali, had returned home late after attending a family gathering at his maternal uncle’s house.
Police said the victim confronted his son for coming home intoxicated and criticised his alcohol consumption. Enraged by the remarks, Arjun allegedly attacked his father with an axe, striking him on the head. The victim died at the scene.
Investigators said the father had frequently objected to his son’s drinking because it often led to unrest within the family. Police also stated that Arjun had allegedly abused his wife while under the influence of alcohol, prompting her to leave him and return to her parents’ home.
Following the incident, local villagers reportedly restrained the suspect inside the house before informing police. Officers later arrived at the scene and took him into custody. An investigation into the case is underway.
