Pakistan Determined to Eliminate Foreign-Sponsored Terrorism at Any Cost: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Karachi: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to eradicating foreign-sponsored terrorism from its soil, declaring that the country will eliminate the threat at any cost.

Addressing the passing-out parade of the Pakistan Navy, the prime minister congratulated the graduating cadets and welcomed the participation of cadets from friendly countries. He praised the Pakistan Navy for its outstanding contributions to national defence, saying it has always emerged with distinction during challenging times. He added that the Navy’s role in the recent “Battle for Truth” has become a part of the country’s history.

Referring to the recent understanding between Iran and the United States, the prime minister described the signing of the Islamabad Agreement as a matter of great honour for Pakistan. He credited the achievement to Pakistan’s sincere diplomatic efforts and lauded Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for his tireless work in promoting regional peace.

Shehbaz Sharif said the major developments taking place in the region would have far-reaching consequences. He alleged that Pakistan’s eastern neighbour, driven by a “defeatist mindset,” was relying on proxy elements to destabilise the country. He stressed that Pakistan, alongside its armed forces, remains fully committed to rooting out terrorism backed by foreign sponsors.

The prime minister also said that the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan reflects the deep brotherly ties between the two countries and serves as recognition of Pakistan’s growing regional importance.

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding foreign policy, Shehbaz Sharif said the country is recognised globally as a supporter of peace. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir and Palestine, pledging to continue raising their issues at international forums.
