Weight-Loss Drugs May Help Reduce Migraine and Asthma Symptoms: Study

ISLAMABAD: A new study suggests that medications used for weight loss may also help reduce symptoms of migraine and asthma, highlighting their potential broader medical benefits.

Researchers found that patients using these drugs reported fewer asthma attacks and a reduced need for inhalers compared to before starting treatment.

Another study showed that women using the weight-loss medication Wegovy experienced a noticeable reduction in prescriptions for migraine-related treatments.

The findings were presented at the European Congress on Obesity held in Turkey, adding to growing scientific evidence that GLP-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) drugs may offer benefits beyond weight management.

In England, these medications are already being used in some cases to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Researchers say the latest findings further expand the possible therapeutic applications of these drugs.

Experts emphasized that while results are promising, further clinical studies are needed to fully understand the mechanisms and long-term effects of these medications.
