Pakistan to Review Global Fuel Price Trends This Week, Says Petroleum Minister

ISLAMABAD:Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government will review international price indicators for petrol and diesel this week before making any decisions regarding domestic fuel prices.
In a statement, the minister said the government was not giving preference to any particular sector nor imposing an unnecessary burden on any segment of the economy.
He added that the government remained committed to passing on the maximum possible benefit to consumers while fulfilling its international obligations.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government had so far reduced the price of diesel by Rs200 per litre and petrol by Rs155 per litre.
He further stated that international market trends for petrol and diesel would be closely assessed during the current week before any future pricing decisions are made.
