Mohammad Rizwan Faces Doubt Over West Indies Tour Due to Fitness Concerns

Karachi:** Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter and former Test captain **Mohammad Rizwan** is facing a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming tour of the West Indies.
Rizwan is currently part of the national team’s red-ball training camp, but reports suggest he has been undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of medical staff and has not yet resumed full cricket activities. The 34-year-old wicketkeeper joined the camp a week later than scheduled and has been kept away from regular training sessions while recovering from his injury.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team is expected to conduct a fitness assessment on July 6 to determine whether Rizwan will be available for selection.
Pakistan are likely to depart for the West Indies on July 15 for a two-match Test series. If Rizwan fails to regain full fitness in time, wicketkeepers **Ghazi Ghori** and **Rohail Nazir** are expected to travel with the squad as potential replacements.
Rizwan has been one of Pakistan’s most reliable performers in Test cricket in recent years. In his last 15 Test matches, he has scored 1,157 runs, including one century and nine half-centuries, making him Pakistan’s most successful batter during that period.
His possible absence would be a significant setback for Pakistan as they prepare for the challenging Test series in the Caribbean.
