Peace and Security During Muharram Will Be Ensured at All Costs, Says Balochistan Chief Minister

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation and security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram. The meeting was attended by senior officials from relevant government departments and law enforcement agencies.

During the meeting, the Balochistan Home Department gave a detailed briefing on measures being taken to maintain peace, strengthen security arrangements, and address potential threats during Muharram. Officials informed the meeting that a comprehensive emergency response plan had been prepared for the 9th and 10th of Muharram, while all necessary security orders had already been issued.

The meeting was told that six districts of the province have been categorized as sensitive and eleven as highly sensitive, where special security measures are being implemented. Authorities are deploying additional personnel and enhancing surveillance systems to ensure the safety of religious processions, gatherings, and other events.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that maintaining peace and order during Muharram is the government’s top priority and that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a fundamental responsibility of the state. He directed all concerned institutions to ensure full implementation of the security plan through effective coordination, communication, and professional performance of duties.

The chief minister emphasized the need for proactive security measures, continuous monitoring, and swift response mechanisms to prevent any untoward incidents during processions and religious gatherings. He stated that all available resources would be utilized to provide a peaceful and secure environment for the public throughout Muharram.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also appreciated the cooperation of religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and representatives of various schools of thought, describing their role in promoting harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood as invaluable. He noted that religious unity and mutual understanding are essential for strengthening peace and stability in society.

The chief minister warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb peace, undermine sectarian harmony, or spread provocation. He made it clear that no individual or group would be allowed to disrupt law and order in the province.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Bugti instructed all relevant departments to maintain continuous oversight of security and administrative affairs during Muharram and to work under a coordinated strategy to ensure the safety, convenience, and well-being of the public.
