Iran Announces Sanctions Relief and Release of Frozen Assets Following Switzerland Talks
TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced significant progress in negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, stating that important steps have been taken toward easing regional tensions and advancing a broader agreement between Iran and the United States.
Reacting to the joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar following the Iran-US talks in Switzerland, Araghchi said that major progress had been achieved regarding efforts to end the conflict in Lebanon through diplomatic channels.
The Iranian foreign minister revealed that restrictions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports have been lifted, describing the move as a positive outcome of the ongoing negotiations.
He further stated that the blockade imposed on Iran has been removed and that some of the country’s frozen assets have been released, signaling growing momentum in the diplomatic process.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that discussions focused on laying the foundation for a final agreement and that encouraging progress had been made regarding the implementation of commitments by the other side.

The developments come after Iran-US negotiations held in Switzerland, where delegations met with the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar. Following the talks, Islamabad and Doha issued a joint communiqué outlining the next steps in the diplomatic process.
According to the statement, the parties agreed to establish a high-level committee to supervise the negotiations and approved a 60-day roadmap aimed at reaching a comprehensive final agreement.
The statement also confirmed that technical discussions would continue in the coming days as negotiators work to finalize practical arrangements related to regional security, sanctions, and other key issues.
