Unrepresentative Government Budget a Mockery of Suffering People: Hazara Democratic Party

Quetta: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has rejected the Balochistan government’s budget, calling it a “mockery of the suffering people” and criticizing it as a document prepared by an unrepresentative “Form 47” administration.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the party said the provincial government, allegedly dependent on federal financial support, is pushing a resource-rich province backward instead of addressing public needs.

The HDP said the budget offers no relief for citizens and fails to include meaningful development projects for Quetta, describing the provincial capital as a “neglected city” without ownership or attention from those in power.

The party criticized the development allocation of Rs206 billion, claiming that not a single significant project has been included for Quetta. It said residents of the city continue to face severe shortages in education, healthcare, clean drinking water, basic infrastructure, and employment opportunities.

The statement further alleged that funds allocated under development schemes, including those for urban improvement projects, would likely be misused due to corruption and mismanagement.

The HDP also said that the absence of genuine public representatives in the assembly has resulted in what it called a “contractor-driven budget,” which it warned would lead to further financial irregularities and inefficiency.

The party maintained that without real public representation in the legislature, the province cannot achieve meaningful development or prosperity.

Reaffirming its stance, the HDP rejected the budget in its entirety, stating that Balochistan’s development aspirations will remain unfulfilled unless democratic representation and transparency are ensured in decision-making processes.
