Pakistan Information Commission Orders Disclosure of PM Helicopter Usage Records

Islamabad:** The Pakistan Information Commission has directed the government to release detailed records regarding the use of the Prime Minister’s helicopter, including operational costs and related expenditures.
The Commission has ordered authorities to provide complete data from 2017 to date, covering flight logs, fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and staff deployment within 10 days.
Rejecting the federal government’s stance that the information is exempt on grounds of national security and legal privilege, the Commission ruled that the requested data does not fall under defense-related or sensitive categories.
According to the ruling, transparency in public expenditure is essential, and the requested records are subject to disclosure under the right to information framework.
The decision is seen as a significant step toward enhancing accountability in the use of government resources and strengthening public access to official financial records.
