Pakistan Women Suffer Second Consecutive Defeat as South Africa Win by Two Wickets

Birmingham:Pakistan Women endured their second successive defeat in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as South Africa Women secured a tense two-wicket victory in Birmingham.

Batting first, Pakistan struggled against disciplined South African bowling, with captain Fatima Sana being the lone standout performer. The team’s innings was further hampered by poor running between the wickets, resulting in four run-outs.

Pakistan posted 126 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Fatima Sana led from the front with an impressive 55 runs off 38 balls, including six fours and two sixes, while Tuba Hassan contributed 23 runs.

In reply, Pakistan’s bowlers put up a spirited fight and regularly struck to keep South Africa under pressure. At one stage, the South African side was in trouble at 107 for 6, raising hopes of a Pakistan comeback.

However, a crucial partnership guided South Africa to victory. Dercksen played a match-winning innings of 52 runs, while De Klerk added 37, steering their team to the target.

South Africa reached the required 127 runs in the 17th over with eight wickets down.

For Pakistan, Fatima Sana impressed with both bat and ball, taking three wickets. Sadia Iqbal and Tuba Hassan claimed two wickets each.

The defeat leaves Pakistan Women searching for their first win of the tournament after also losing their opening match against India. Pakistan will now face Bangladesh in their third group-stage match on Saturday.
