Hasan Ali Becomes Highest Wicket-Taker in PSL History with Match-Winning Spell Against Quetta Gladiators

KARACHI – In a thrilling encounter on April 18 at the National Stadium Karachi, seasoned fast bowler Hasan Ali etched his name in the history books of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) by becoming the tournament’s all-time leading wicket-taker. Representing Karachi Kings under the captaincy of David Warner, Hasan delivered a stellar performance that led his team to a convincing 56-run victory over Quetta Gladiators in the eighth match of PSL 2025.

Hasan Ali bowled a fiery spell, conceding just 27 runs in his four overs while taking three crucial wickets. With this performance, he surpassed former fast bowler Wahab Riaz’s long-standing record of 113 wickets. Hasan now tops the chart with **116 wickets** in **84 innings across 85 matches**, boasting a bowling average of **22.23**.

Wahab Riaz had held the record from 2016 to 2023, collecting 113 wickets in 87 innings with an average of 22.68.

Karachi Kings posted a competitive total of 175 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to a solid team effort with the bat. In response, Quetta Gladiators faltered under pressure and could only manage 119 for 9. Saud Shakeel remained unbeaten on 33, while Kusal Mendis and Mohammad Amir scored 12 and 30 respectively. No significant partnerships could be formed as Karachi’s bowling attack dominated throughout.

Hasan Ali’s standout performance is being seen as a strong signal for a potential comeback to Pakistan’s national side. Having already taken four four-wicket hauls in his PSL career, his consistency and leadership with the ball continue to shine. This historic achievement marks a significant milestone in his career and could pave the way for his return to international cricket.
