Court Orders Arrest and Production of KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in PECA Case
ISLAMABAD: A district court in Islamabad has ordered the arrest and production of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in connection with a case involving allegations against state institutions.
The District and Sessions Court upheld the non-bailable arrest warrants issued against the chief minister due to his repeated absence from court proceedings and directed law enforcement authorities to ensure his appearance before the court.
The case was heard by Civil Judge Abbas Shah. According to court records, a case against Sohail Afridi was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under the provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
During the hearing, the court reviewed the status of the proceedings and maintained the previously issued non-bailable warrants.
Following the hearing, the court adjourned further proceedings in the case until June 18.
The case relates to allegations concerning statements made about state institutions, for which legal proceedings are currently underway under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws.
