Sindh Government Spokesperson Urges Captain Safdar to Apologize to the People of Sindh

Karachi: Sindh government spokesperson Arslan Islam Sheikh has called on Captain (Retd) Muhammad Safdar to apologize to the people of Sindh, accusing him of making remarks that were offensive to the province’s culture and people.
Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Arslan Islam Sheikh said that the performance of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is evident to the public, adding that criticism would be answered with facts.
He said Captain Safdar should “fold his hands and apologize” to the people of Sindh, alleging that the PML-N leader had attacked Sindhi culture through his statements. Sheikh invited Safdar to visit Sindh, saying that the province’s people and leadership would welcome him.
The spokesperson also defended the performance of the Pakistan Peoples Party, saying the party has consistently served the public and that its electoral victories reflect its popularity among voters. He added that public service is not achieved through social media promotion alone and claimed that the PPP focuses on governance rather than marketing.
Referring to the ongoing political campaign in Gilgit-Baltistan, Sheikh alleged that misleading and unethical statements were being made during the election season. He said the Sindh government would respond whenever false claims were directed at the province or its leadership.
He praised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s role in national politics and stated that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan were granted rights through the efforts of the Bhutto family.
The PPP leader also highlighted recent diplomatic developments, saying that Pakistan’s international standing had improved. He credited Bilawal Bhutto, the Prime Minister, and the Army Chief for enhancing the country’s global image.
Arslan Islam Sheikh further demanded that the federal government provide Sindh with its due share of resources, arguing that Karachi was not receiving adequate federal funding despite its importance to the national economy.
He also rejected any proposals regarding the creation of a new province or administrative unit in Sindh, asserting that such moves would not be accepted by the people of the province while Bilawal Bhutto remained the PPP chairman.
The remarks came amid an ongoing political exchange between leaders of the PPP and PML-N during the Gilgit-Baltistan election campaign.
