Pakistan Demands Release of All Kashmiri Political Prisoners and Human Rights Activists

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat News) – Pakistan has called for the release of all Kashmiri political prisoners and human rights activists, according to Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi.

Speaking at a weekly briefing, the spokesperson said that Pakistan and China are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic friendship, during which both countries have stood by each other in every difficult time. He noted that cooperation between the two nations continues in trade, industry, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China from May 23 to 26, adding that the visit will further strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries. During the visit, the Prime Minister will chair a Pakistan-China business conference and attend a reception in Beijing. Meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang are also scheduled.

Regarding Pakistan-Iran relations, the spokesperson said Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made two visits to Iran, where detailed discussions were held with Iranian leadership on bilateral ties and security matters.

Commenting on drone incidents reported in the airspace of Saudi Arabia and the UAE on May 17, the Foreign Office said targeting nuclear installations is a serious violation of international law. Pakistan strongly condemned the incidents and expressed hope that such events would not recur.

Tahir Hussain Andrabi stated that India is attempting to suppress voices advocating for human rights in Indian-administered Kashmir. He said the international community is witness to alleged human rights abuses in the region and described the treatment of Kashmiri leaders as condemnable.

The spokesperson further said India levels baseless allegations against Pakistan to divert attention from alleged human rights violations in Kashmir. He added that the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav is evidence of what Pakistan describes as Indian state-sponsored terrorism, and stressed that India cannot label the Kashmiri freedom movement as terrorism.

He reiterated that Pakistan will continue to use legal and diplomatic channels to safeguard its rights under the Indus Waters Treaty and said India’s rejection of the arbitration court’s decision carries no legal or political value.

The spokesperson also said Pakistan remains united in its peace efforts and urged people to avoid speculation on the matter. He added that Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism are recognized globally.

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan and Russia also held detailed consultations on global security, arms control, and non-proliferation, while both countries agreed to enhance cooperation at international forums. The next round of talks is scheduled to be held in Islamabad in 2027.
