Mominah Iqbal Case to Be Resolved Within Days, Says NCCIA DG

LAHORE: National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Director General Syed Khurram Ali has said that the case involving actress Mominah Iqbal will be resolved within one to two days, assuring that cases involving women are among the agency’s top priorities.

Addressing a media briefing, the DG said that the NCCIA treats all citizens equally, regardless of their financial or social status.

He added that the Mominah Iqbal case is being handled by the Lahore office and will be completed in days rather than months, stressing that no delay has been made in the investigation.

He further stated that action was initiated as soon as the actress arrived in Lahore, adding that she had previously been in Karachi.

Responding to questions, Syed Khurram Ali said journalists are the “eyes and ears of society,” but warned that legal action would be taken against anyone who speaks against the state.

He also revealed that some individuals had been arrested for allegedly stating in a vlog that Swat should be part of Afghanistan, adding that action is taken against those who undermine confidence in the state.

Meanwhile, in the harassment case involving Mominah Iqbal, the lawyer for a Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Member of Provincial Assembly said that important evidence would be presented in the coming days.

The lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, claimed that Muhammad Saqib and Mominah Iqbal first met in 2021 and maintained a close relationship for a long period, during which they were even close to getting engaged.

He alleged that the complainant benefited financially and otherwise from the accused for around five years and maintained frequent contact and visits.

He further stated that the allegation of online harassment was now being raised after years of mutual association, and said that significant evidence regarding the relationship between the two parties would soon be made public.
