Trump Says Iran Ceasefire Was Accepted on Pakistan’s Request, Warns of Possible Future Strikes

ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump has stated that the decision to agree to a ceasefire with Iran was made following requests from several countries, including Pakistan.

Speaking to journalists after returning from his visit to China, Trump said he was personally not in favour of a ceasefire with Iran, but agreed to it due to appeals from other nations.

According to Trump, “I was not in favour of the ceasefire with Iran, but other countries, particularly Pakistan, requested it, so we agreed.”

He also warned that the United States could consider future military action against Iran, claiming that Iran’s military capability had been “almost destroyed.” He added that after the ceasefire period, Iran might attempt to rebuild its capabilities, which could require further action.

“If they rebuild, we may have to go back and do some cleanup work,” he said.

In response, Iranian officials dismissed the remarks as “psychological warfare,” insisting that the country’s defensive capabilities remain intact and warning of a decisive response in case of any renewed attack.

According to US media reports, Pakistan, along with Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Qatar, had been engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts in recent weeks to support ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran.
