Quetta’s Sheikh Zayed Hospital Faces Severe Crisis Amid Administrative Failures

QUETTA – Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital, one of the major healthcare facilities in Quetta, is facing a severe crisis due to alleged administrative incompetence and lack of basic facilities.

According to reports, the hospital suffered a two-hour power outage last night, while the backup generator system also reportedly failed, leaving critically ill patients, children, and elderly individuals in intensive care units and wards without proper support.

Public circles and attendants of patients strongly criticized the hospital administration, stating that despite the allocation of millions of rupees in funds, the failure of the backup system reflects serious negligence.

Residents and patients’ families further alleged that several expensive medical machines at the hospital remain non-functional, forcing poor patients to obtain medical tests from private laboratories at additional expense.

They also accused hospital officials of focusing more on social media publicity and photo sessions rather than addressing operational problems and improving healthcare services.

Citizens have appealed to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, the provincial health minister, and the health secretary to immediately investigate the hospital’s deteriorating condition and the use of funds.

They demanded accountability for what they described as administrative failures and warned that protests could be launched if urgent corrective measures are not taken.
