Dialogue, Not Bullets, Is the Solution to Balochistan’s Problems, Says Dr Abdul Malik Baloch

Quetta: Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has called for political dialogue to resolve the long-standing issues in Balochistan, saying violence and the use of force have failed to bring peace to the province over the past two decades.

Addressing the Balochistan Assembly, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said that everyone in the province was trying to prove themselves as the “most loyal,” while the actual issues facing the people remained unresolved.

He stated that all major highways in Balochistan are currently blocked and expressed concern over the reported abduction of the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of University of Gwadar.

The former chief minister emphasized the need to deal with the province’s challenges politically and urged authorities to change their narrative and approach toward the conflict.

“We have repeatedly said that bullets are not the solution to problems; dialogue is,” he told the assembly.

Dr Abdul Malik Baloch noted that gunfire and violence have continued in Balochistan for the last 20 years, yet the situation has not improved. He stressed that a favorable environment must be created for negotiations and meaningful talks in order to restore peace and stability in the province.
