No Government Intention to Seal Religious Seminaries, Says CM Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta (Khabar Desk) — Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that misconceptions were spread regarding possible action or closure of religious seminaries, clarifying that the government never had and does not have any such intention.
He made these remarks during a meeting at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan chief Maulana Abdul Wasay, where matters related to seminaries’ registration and other mutual interests were discussed in detail. Provincial ministers and assembly members were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the matter, the Chief Minister said that religious seminaries are an important part of society and the government will continue to extend full support for their development and improvement.
He further stated that the Parliament has already passed the Madrassas Registration Act, which is now expected to be presented in the Balochistan Assembly as well. He added that detailed consultations were held with JUI leadership, while Maulana Abdul Wasay also presented his proposals and demands.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that coalition partners, including the Pakistan Peoples Party and other allies, have requested a 10-day period to consult their party leadership, as the matter involves federal legislation that now requires provincial consideration.
He expressed hope that consensus-based legislation would be achieved in the Balochistan Assembly through mutual consultation and understanding, adding that the issue would be resolved amicably.
The Chief Minister also thanked the leadership of JUI, stating that they have always extended respect and cooperation. He reiterated that religious seminaries are an essential part of society and are held in high regard by the government.
