Polio Booster Campaign Launched in District West Karachi to Strengthen Immunization Drive

Karachi: Deputy Commissioner West Ali Zulfikar Memon has officially inaugurated the ongoing polio booster vaccination campaign in collaboration with the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West.
The inauguration ceremony was held at a private school in District West, where the Deputy Commissioner administered polio booster doses to children, formally launching the campaign aimed at strengthening efforts to eliminate the poliovirus.
Speaking at the event, Ali Zulfikar Memon said that eliminating polio from District West remains the top priority of the administration. He stressed that all available resources will be utilized to ensure the success of the campaign.
He added that vaccination is essential for protecting children from the deadly disease, and parental cooperation with health workers and polio teams is crucial for achieving full coverage.
Officials, including the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) officer Dr. Kailash and senior health department representatives, also attended the ceremony.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed polio teams and field workers to ensure that no child between the ages of 4 to 10 is left unvaccinated during the booster drive. He emphasized the importance of reaching every eligible child in both urban and hard-to-access areas.
During a meeting with the SSP West, he also directed that proper security arrangements be ensured for polio teams so they can safely access sensitive areas and carry out their duties effectively.
Under the special campaign, polio teams will conduct door-to-door visits across 15 union councils of District West, as well as operate designated vaccination centers to administer booster doses to children.
