Patient Brought to Mastung Hospital on Donkey Cart Raises Questions Over Healthcare Claims in Balochistan

MASTUNG: A heartbreaking incident at a government hospital in Mastung has sparked widespread concern after a poor woman was forced to bring her critically ill husband to the hospital on a donkey due to the lack of ambulance and transport facilities.
The incident highlighted the harsh realities of the healthcare system in rural areas of Balochistan and triggered strong public reaction over the shortage of basic medical services.
According to local residents, the patient was in serious condition, but the family had no access to an ambulance or any proper means of transportation in the area, leaving them with no option but to transport him on a donkey.
Witnesses described the scene as deeply distressing and said it exposed the gap between government claims of development and the actual conditions faced by people in remote regions.
Members of the public criticized successive governments for making repeated promises regarding development projects and the provision of basic facilities, while rural communities continue to suffer from inadequate healthcare infrastructure.
Residents said that many health centers in remote areas still lack essential facilities, qualified doctors, medicines, and emergency transportation services. They urged authorities to move beyond announcements and take practical steps to ensure rural populations receive healthcare and public services similar to those available in urban areas.
The incident has once again raised questions about why ordinary citizens remain deprived of basic medical treatment and facilities despite claims of billions of rupees being spent on development projects.
