Severe Heatwave Expected Across Pakistan From Today to May 11

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning of a severe heatwave affecting large parts of the country from today until May 11, with temperatures expected to rise significantly above normal levels.

According to the forecast, extreme heat conditions are likely in several areas of Sindh, including Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur, as well as in Balochistan’s Sibi, Turbat, and Panjgur. In these regions, maximum temperatures may range between 46°C and 50°C.

In southern Punjab, including Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan, and parts of Dera Ismail Khan, temperatures are expected to reach between 43°C and 47°C.

For upper Punjab and northern cities such as Peshawar, Mardan, Sialkot, Lahore, and Islamabad, the mercury is likely to remain between 39°C and 43°C.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature is expected to stay in the range of 35°C to 38°C.

Weather experts have advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, stay hydrated, and take precautionary measures during peak heat hours to prevent heat-related illnesses.
