47,000 Apply for 300 Patwari Posts in Balochistan, Highlighting Severe Unemployment Crisis

Quetta (UNA):** Balochistan’s growing unemployment crisis has come into sharp focus as a record 47,000 candidates have applied for just 300 patwari positions announced by the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC).

The overwhelming number of applicants reflects the dire economic conditions faced by young people in the province. According to academic circles, a significant number of highly qualified candidates, including those holding Master’s and MPhil degrees, have applied for these lower-grade positions, underscoring the intensity of competition.

Public observers have compared the scale of this recruitment drive to the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination, noting that while around 12,000 candidates typically appear in the country’s top competitive exam, nearly four times that number are competing for a relatively low-ranking government job in this case.

Economic experts attribute the situation to the lack of a strong private sector and limited industrial zones in Balochistan, forcing the youth to rely heavily on government employment opportunities.

Social organizations and student groups have urged the government to ensure transparency in the recruitment process while also promoting private investment and expanding technical training programs to tackle rising unemployment in the province.
