DG BISP Romina Gul Kakar Reviews Nashonuma Centers in Quetta, Stresses Uninterrupted Nutrition Supply

Quetta: Romina Gul Kakar, Director General of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), visited multiple Nashonuma centers in Quetta to assess facilities, administrative arrangements, and the availability of nutritional supplements for women and children.
During the visit, she conducted a detailed review of services being provided to beneficiaries, including stock levels of nutritional supplements and their expiry dates. She directed staff to ensure uninterrupted supply of supplements for eligible women and children.
The Nashonuma program, implemented under BISP in collaboration with the World Food Programme and the Government of Balochistan, aims to improve maternal and child health and prevent stunting among children. The initiative particularly focuses on the first 1,000 days—from pregnancy until a child reaches two years of age—which are considered critical for physical and cognitive development.
Romina Gul Kakar also reviewed administrative matters and emphasized the need to further enhance the quality of services at the centers. She reiterated that improving the health of mothers and children remains a top priority of the government and that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
