Trump Rejects Iran’s Proposal, Vows to Maintain Blockade Until Nuclear Deal Reached

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest proposal, stating that a naval blockade on the country will remain in place until a nuclear agreement addressing American concerns is reached.
In an interview with Axios, Trump dismissed Iran’s suggestion to first reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the blockade before engaging in nuclear negotiations.
According to sources, the U.S. Central Command has prepared plans for “short and decisive” strikes against Iran, aimed at breaking the current deadlock in negotiations. Potential targets could include key infrastructure, with the objective of pressuring Tehran back to the negotiating table.
However, Trump indicated that he currently views the blockade as more effective than military action and confirmed that, as of Tuesday night, he had not authorized any strikes.
Sources added that while the blockade remains the primary tool of pressure, military options are still under consideration if Iran does not alter its position.
Trump also claimed that Iran is seeking a deal to end the blockade, saying the country wants to resolve the issue but the U.S. is unwilling to lift restrictions unless its nuclear concerns are addressed.
He further asserted that Iran’s oil reserves and pipelines are under strain due to the blockade limiting exports, though some analysts have disputed this claim.
