Interpol Issues Red Notices for Malik Riaz and Son Ali Riaz in NAB Corruption Case

Islamabad: Interpol has issued red notices for property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son Ali Riaz Malik at the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), officials confirmed.
NAB Chairman Nazir Ahmed Butt stated that the warrants have been issued and efforts are underway to secure the arrest of both individuals.
According to NAB’s Director General Operations, Amjad Majeed Aulakh, investigations against Malik Riaz involving assets worth over Rs900 billion have been completed. He added that NAB recovered Rs89 billion last year and is currently pursuing 37 high-profile money laundering cases.
Officials further revealed that four money laundering cases have already been concluded in courts, while NAB is handling 289 references, 205 investigations, and 745 inquiries. Between January and March this year, over 8,500 complaints were received, with the majority already processed.
Authorities also confirmed that investigations are ongoing into multiple housing projects, including those linked to Bahria Town. Land has been reclaimed in areas such as Malir, Korangi, Clifton, and Gul Ahmed in Sindh, while more than 900,000 acres have reportedly been recovered in Punjab. Task forces have been established at the provincial level to monitor reclaimed land.
Malik Riaz, aged 72, is the founder and chairman of Bahria Town, while his son Ali Riaz Malik, 48, serves as the company’s chief executive. Both have faced multiple legal challenges in recent years, including being declared absconders in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
NAB had also initiated efforts in January 2025 to seek their extradition from the United Arab Emirates. The case adds to a series of legal disputes involving land acquisition and financial irregularities linked to the real estate empire.
