JUI-F Warns of ‘Open Conflict’ Over Seminary Crackdowns, Demands Apology from Balochistan Government

Quetta / Nushki (Daily Qudrat): Senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Balochistan provincial emir Maulana Abdul Wasay has strongly criticized the provincial government, warning that continued action against religious seminaries could lead to an “open conflict.”
Addressing a workers’ convention in Nushki, Maulana Abdul Wasay alleged that the government’s authority in Balochistan has weakened and said that seminaries are being targeted at a time when governance is already fragile in the province.
He said that history was being repeated through flawed policies, referring to past political eras and warning that such actions could further deteriorate the situation. He cited previous military and political operations, claiming that earlier decisions had long-term negative consequences.
The JUI-F leader demanded that actions against religious seminaries be immediately stopped, warning that if the crackdown continues, the party would respond strongly. He said that the situation has now escalated to a point where “open confrontation” with the government cannot be ruled out.
He also called on the Chief Minister of Quetta, the JUI-F leadership, Wafaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan, and district administrations to apologize to seminary administrators and review policies against religious institutions.
Other speakers at the convention also condemned the actions against seminaries, terming them an attempt to pressure the religious education system. They warned that if the government does not change its approach, the protest movement will be expanded.
At the conclusion of the gathering, a resolution was passed demanding an immediate end to actions against seminaries and calling for the protection of religious scholars across the province.
