Jeddah Tower Reaches New Milestone, Set to Surpass Burj Khalifa in Height

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s under-construction Jeddah Tower has achieved a major milestone after surpassing 100 floors and rising above 400 meters in height, marking significant progress toward becoming the world’s tallest building.
The ambitious skyscraper is designed to exceed 1,000 meters, which would make it the first structure in history to reach the one-kilometer mark. Once completed, it is expected to surpass Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, currently the world’s tallest building at 828 meters.
The structural milestone was confirmed by engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti, which is responsible for the tower’s design framework. According to the company, construction has now exceeded both the 100-floor mark and 400-meter height threshold.
The Jeddah Tower was designed by architects Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill, who also designed the Burj Khalifa. The project involves several major firms, including the Jeddah Economic Company, Langan, RWDI, Dar Al-Handasah, Saudi Binladin Group, and Turner International.
Construction on the tower initially stalled in 2018 but resumed in early 2025. Over the past year, progress has accelerated significantly. Reports indicate that while the structure stood at around 80 floors in December, it has now crossed 100 floors as of April 2026.
The mega-project is expected to be completed by 2028. Once finished, it will feature residential apartments, office spaces, a luxury hotel, and the world’s highest observation deck, offering panoramic views of Jeddah.
The tower is the centerpiece of the broader Jeddah Economic City project, aimed at boosting economic and tourism activities in the region and positioning Saudi Arabia as a global architectural and business hub.
