Balochistan Govt Considers Granting District Status to Karezat, Orders Transparent Oversight of Charities

QUETTA: The Balochistan government is reviewing a proposal to grant district status to Karezat, with a high-level committee tasked to compile comprehensive recommendations on the matter.

The meeting was chaired by Provincial Interior Minister Ziaullah Langau and attended by senior officials and lawmakers, including Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and MPA Zamrak Khan Achakzai via video link. Other participants included Parliamentary Secretary Asfandyar Kakar, Public Accounts Committee Chairman Asghar Tareen, and administrative officials from Quetta Division and Pishin.

During the session, detailed discussions were held on proposals received from elected representatives and various political stakeholders regarding the elevation of Karezat to district status. Langau said the committee would carefully review all input before finalizing recommendations to move the proposal forward.

Focus on Transparent Regulation of Charities

In a separate meeting, also chaired by Ziaullah Langau, the performance of the Balochistan Charities Registration and Regulation Authority was reviewed.

Officials, including DG BCRA Qasim Kakar and Additional Secretary Home Bashir Bareech, briefed the meeting on the authority’s operations, registration procedures, and existing challenges.

The interior minister directed authorities to further strengthen and streamline the BCRA under the Home Department to ensure that the registration and monitoring of welfare organizations across the province are carried out in a fully transparent and efficient manner.

He emphasized that improving oversight mechanisms is essential to enhance accountability and ensure that charitable organizations operate in accordance with established regulations.
