FIA Recovers Rs2 Billion from Hawala Networks, Busts Illegal Organ Trade Ring in Peshawar

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has recovered approximately Rs2 billion from hawala and hundi networks linked to Europe and Gulf countries in a major crackdown in Peshawar.

According to FIA Peshawar Zone Director Inamullah Khan Gandapur, authorities also uncovered illegal hoarding of Iranian currency, seizing holdings worth around Rs210 million.

The operation targeted a range of unlawful activities, including money laundering through informal transfer systems and illegal organ trade. Officials reported the recovery of multiple foreign currencies, including U.S. dollars, Saudi riyals, and UAE dirhams.

Over the past 15 months, the FIA conducted 549 raids, resulting in the arrest of 1,337 suspects. During the crackdown, a well-organized gang involved in illegal kidney transplants was dismantled. Four افراد، including a doctor, were arrested for their alleged role in organ trafficking.

Investigators revealed that the group exploited vulnerable individuals, particularly kiln workers and low-income افراد from Punjab, coercing them into selling kidneys for as little as Rs100,000.

Authorities say further investigations are underway to identify additional members of the networks and bring them to justice.
