Defense Minister Khawaja Asif Hails Promotion of General Asim Munir to Field Marshal as National Recognition
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has praised the promotion of Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal, calling it a national acknowledgment of his exceptional leadership during Operation Bunyam al-Marsus. In a statement posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Khawaja Asif expressed that General Asim Munir is a national hero and that a proud nation honors its benefactors.
The Minister further stated, “General Asim Munir is a benefactor of the nation, and a living nation always holds its benefactors in high regard.” He emphasized that the promotion of General Asim Munir is a recognition of his unparalleled leadership and accomplishments.
Khawaja Asif also lauded Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Saddo, praising his leadership for making Pakistan’s skies invincible and successfully neutralizing enemy aircraft, rendering their airspace barren. He highlighted that under Saddo’s command, numerous enemy aircraft had fallen to the ground like cut kites, a testament to his bravery and success.
The Defense Minister added, “Even after his tenure, the continuation of their services is a recognition of their courage and achievements. The nation is grateful for their sacrifices.”
It is noteworthy that the government has promoted Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal, while Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Saddo, whose term has concluded, will continue his services. This move underlines the government’s acknowledgment of their significant contributions to national defense.
