Alleged Corruption Claims Over Road to Hinglaj Shakti Peeth, Official Orders Ignored

Uthal: The blacktop road constructed for access to “Chandra Gup” section of the sacred Hinglaj Shakti Peeth, an important religious site for the minority community, has allegedly fallen victim to substandard construction and corruption, leaving it in a dilapidated condition within months of completion.
According to details, the road—built to facilitate pilgrims visiting the holy site—has deteriorated so severely that even small vehicles are unable to use it, causing serious difficulties for visitors and local residents.
Well-placed sources claim that basic engineering standards were ignored during construction. The road shoulders remain incomplete, while proper compaction was not carried out. It is further alleged that the contractor merely spread soil and sprayed a black, diesel-like substance to give the appearance of a blacktop road.
Sources further revealed that complaints regarding the poor quality of work were submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Lasbela, after which directives were issued to concerned officials to rectify the construction. However, influential officials and favored contractors allegedly ignored these orders and left the work incomplete, constituting a clear violation of official instructions.
Members of the Hindu community and pilgrims arriving from distant areas have expressed serious concern, stating that the situation reflects not only corruption but also disrespect toward a sacred religious site. They have appealed to the Chief Minister of Balochistan and relevant federal authorities to initiate an immediate inquiry against responsible contractors and officials.
The demands include reconstruction of the road using proper materials, recovery of misappropriated funds, and strict action against those involved in alleged embezzlement of public money.
Public circles have warned that if immediate action is not taken, access to this important religious and tourist destination may be severely disrupted, for which the district administration and construction department will be held responsible.
