Merit and Transparency Restored in Balochistan Hiring Process, Says CM Sarfraz Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has said that the provincial government has successfully restored merit and transparency in public sector recruitment, particularly in the education department.
Addressing a ceremony at the Chief Minister’s House, Bugti stated that eliminating alleged corruption in teachers’ recruitment was made a top priority as soon as his government took office.
He recalled that in the past, reports suggested that some candidates—especially women—were forced to sell their jewelry to secure government jobs, calling it a deeply regrettable and shameful practice. “We promised the people of Balochistan that jobs would no longer be sold, and we remain committed to that pledge,” he said.
The chief minister added that he prays daily before coming to office, asking that no one’s rights be violated and that all government affairs be conducted with fairness and transparency.
Bugti claimed that deliberate efforts in the past had kept children in Balochistan away from education, while the removal of teachers had set the province back by years. However, he emphasized that no propaganda or conspiracy could now hinder progress.
He credited the joint efforts of the education department, deputy commissioners, and other relevant officials for ensuring a transparent recruitment process. According to him, 99.99 percent merit has been ensured in the recent hiring of teachers across the province.
The chief minister said reforms in the education sector remain a key priority of the government, adding that merit-based recruitment will not only improve the quality of education but also restore trust among the youth.
He reaffirmed that the provincial government will continue to uphold merit and transparency without any compromise in the future.
