Strong Parliament Is the Foundation of a Stable and Prosperous Society, Says Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that a strong and effective parliament is the foundation of a stable, peaceful, and prosperous society, emphasizing the importance of democratic institutions, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law.
In his message on the occasion of the International Day of Parliamentarism, the chief minister said the day provides an important opportunity to highlight democratic values, parliamentary traditions, the rule of law, and the significance of public representation across the world.
He stated that a vibrant parliament ensures that the voices of the people are heard through constitutional and democratic processes and that national issues are addressed through effective legislation.
Bugti said Pakistan’s Constitution provides a strong foundation for parliamentary democracy, under which all state institutions perform their responsibilities within their constitutional limits. He added that the strengthening of democratic institutions, constitutional supremacy, and the rule of law are essential for national unity, political stability, and sustainable development.
The chief minister said the Balochistan Assembly represents the aspirations of the people of the province and that his government remains committed to resolving public issues through effective legislation, transparent governance, and public service.
He stressed that parliamentary traditions, accountability, transparency, and consultation must be further strengthened to maintain public confidence in democratic institutions.
Bugti further noted that the role of parliament extends beyond legislation and includes building national consensus, promoting social harmony, advancing public welfare, and achieving sustainable development goals. He also emphasized that the effective representation of women, youth, and all segments of society strengthens the democratic system.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment, the chief minister said the Balochistan government would continue working in accordance with the principles of constitutional supremacy, democratic values, transparent governance, and public service to promote good governance, effective legislation, and the welfare of the people. He concluded that a strong parliamentary system is the key to a stable, prosperous, and developed Pakistan.
