Trump Claims NATO Contacted Him After Strait of Hormuz Reopening, Criticizes Alliance

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that after the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, he was contacted by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and asked whether the United States required any assistance.

In a statement, Trump said he responded that NATO should “stay out of the matter,” adding that when support was actually needed, the alliance had failed to act effectively and had behaved like a “paper tiger.”

He also expressed gratitude toward Iran, claiming that the country had helped address maritime issues in the region following developments around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.

Trump further alleged that naval mine-related threats in the area had either been removed or were in the process of being cleared with assistance linked to Iran, though no independent confirmation of these claims has been provided.
