U.S. Designates BLA and Majeed Brigade as Terrorist Groups

Washington: The United States has officially designated the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade as terrorist organizations. According to the U.S. Department of State, both groups have now been classified as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO). Furthermore, the Majeed Brigade has been labeled as a global terrorist organization, a designation previously given to the BLA.

The U.S. State Department’s statement reaffirmed the commitment of the Trump administration to countering terrorism, highlighting that these groups have been responsible for numerous acts of violence and terror.

The statement from U.S. Secretary of State emphasized that the BLA had claimed responsibility for the attacks on Karachi Airport and the Gwadar Port Complex. Additionally, the BLA took responsibility for the Jaffar Express train attack, which resulted in the martyrdom of 31 individuals and the abduction of 300 passengers.

The designation by the U.S. further isolates these groups and underscores the ongoing global efforts to combat terrorism and prevent such attacks in the future.
