Hamid Mir Claims Some Imran Khan Cabinet Members Reported to Gen Bajwa, Names Shehbaz Gill as Exception

Islamabad: Senior journalist and analyst Hamid Mir has claimed that several members of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet allegedly shared information with former army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, while one key figure did not do so.
In a recent vlog, Hamid Mir said that after Imran Khan became prime minister, General Bajwa believed he had brought him into power and expected close coordination on key government decisions, including the appointment of defence, foreign affairs, and other important ministries.
He alleged that efforts were made to create a “buffer” around Imran Khan, with certain ministers, advisers, and close associates providing updates to the military leadership.
However, Mir stated that among those in the cabinet, one individual did not act as an informant — former special assistant to the prime minister Shehbaz Gill.
According to Mir, Shehbaz Gill avoided private meetings with General Bajwa, which reportedly caused resentment. He further claimed that this was one of several reasons Gill faced alleged mistreatment and “torture” after the government’s removal.
The journalist also said Imran Khan had long been aware that some of his close aides were allegedly working with the military establishment to politically sideline him, and that he himself had publicly stated he was being pushed out of power.
The claims have not been independently verified by official sources.
حامد میر pic.twitter.com/qOIya8R3AU— Bakhtawar khan (@Bakhtt_PTI) April 16, 2026
