PTI Reportedly Considering Resignation From Assemblies and Withdrawal of Opposition Leadership Powers

Islamabad: Sources within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claim that the party is considering a major political move, including possible resignations from assemblies and restructuring of opposition leadership roles in parliament.
According to party insiders, the leadership is reviewing its political strategy and may take back key decision-making powers from National Assembly Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas.
Sources further said that a team has been formed under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to explore a possible withdrawal from the opposition alliance.
During internal discussions, PTI MNA Shahid Khattak reportedly criticized the current alliance structure, stating that the time for excuses is over and responsibility must be taken by the party leadership.
He also suggested that decision-making authority should be concentrated among a four-member group, including Sohail Afridi, Mina Khan Afridi, Shahid Khattak, and Shafi Jan.
According to sources, two parallel strategies are being discussed within PTI: one involving resignation from assemblies along with a broader protest movement, and another focusing on centralizing decision-making powers within a smaller leadership group.
Party insiders also claimed that some PTI social media figures, including the party’s social media head Jibran Ilyas, have expressed support for Shahid Khattak’s proposed approach, including potential resignations and strategic restructuring.
