Pedestrian Killed in Column Collapse at Data Darbar Expansion Site in Lahore

Lahore — A tragic accident occurred at the Data Darbar expansion project when a structural column collapsed, resulting in the death of a passerby, police said.

According to authorities, a 40-year-old pedestrian identified as Shahid was critically injured when the ستون fell during construction work. He was being transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Police have taken swift action, arresting five individuals including the site’s safety officer and crane staff. The suspects have been identified as Tahir, Hamza, Mudassar, Ameer Muawiya, and Luqman.

Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and assess responsibility for possible negligence at the construction site.
