We Will Not Bow Our Heads: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

Mardan: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that while other political leaders may “bow their heads,” his party will not do so, declaring that future decisions will be made in the streets and public arenas rather than in parliament.

Addressing a public gathering in Mardan, he said Pakistan holds significant importance in the Muslim world and expressed his desire to see the country play a leading role in the Islamic world with restored dignity and confidence.

He criticized what he described as policies influenced by external pressure, saying that inflation and economic hardship imposed on the public must be reversed. He announced the launch of a new political movement from Mardan, warning that decisions taken against public interest would be challenged.

Referring to national politics, he said that while leaders such as Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Asif Ali Zardari may compromise, JUI-F would not surrender its stance.

The JUI-F chief also criticized recent legislation he termed “against the Qur’an and Sunnah,” urging a return to constitutional principles and warning against violating oaths and democratic norms.

On foreign policy, he strongly condemned Israel, calling it an illegitimate state and saying its continued actions in Palestine represent a serious threat to the Muslim world. He reiterated support for Palestine and said Muslim unity would ultimately prevail.

He added that the future of Jerusalem would belong to Muslims and expressed confidence that Islamic worship would one day take place there under Muslim control.
