Chicken and Egg Prices Surge Again in Lahore, Adding to Public Hardships

Lahore: Prices of chicken and eggs have increased once again in Lahore, further adding to the financial difficulties of citizens.
According to media reports, the price of chicken has increased by Rs7 per kilogram, bringing the retail rate to Rs497 per kg in the city. Meanwhile, the price of live farm chicken has been recorded at Rs315 per kg, while in the wholesale market chicken is being sold at Rs329 per kg.
At the retail level, chicken is being sold for Rs343 per kg. Market sources say that prices continue to fluctuate due to the gap between demand and supply.
Meanwhile, the prices of farm eggs have also risen. Eggs are currently being sold at Rs200 per dozen, while the price of a crate of eggs has reached Rs5,880.
The increase in egg prices has also affected the public, as eggs are generally considered an affordable and easily available food item.
Experts say that during Ramadan, the demand for meat and eggs increases, which often leads to fluctuations in prices. If demand continues to rise, prices may increase further in the coming days.
Citizens have urged the authorities to take effective measures to control prices to prevent further hardship for the public.
