Sindh Govt Limits Business Hours Under Austerity Measures

Karachi: The Government of Sindh has issued a notification restricting business hours across the province as part of its austerity policy aimed at conserving fuel and reducing expenditures.
According to the notification, all shops, markets, and shopping malls in districts other than divisional headquarters must close by 8:00 PM throughout the week. In divisional headquarters, businesses will be allowed to operate until 9:00 PM.
The government clarified that essential services including tandoors, milk and dairy shops, bakeries, medical stores, laboratories, hospitals, and petrol pumps are exempt from these restrictions.
Restaurants, hotels, and food outlets will be permitted to operate between 7:00 PM and 11:30 PM, while takeaway and home delivery services will remain unrestricted.
Additionally, wedding halls and banquet facilities will be allowed to operate from 8:00 PM until midnight.
The notification further directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure strict implementation of these measures in their respective areas with the assistance of Sindh Police.
The move is part of broader efforts by the provincial government to enforce energy-saving measures and promote financial discipline amid rising fuel costs.
