Pakistan to Acquire Turkish Armored Vehicles via Kazakhstan to Boost Defense Capabilities

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to procure Turkish-designed armored vehicles through Kazakhstan to further strengthen its defense capabilities, enhancing trilateral defense cooperation.

The deal, reached during Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s 2026 visit, includes the acquisition of Otokar-platform-based AIPER 4×4 and Timas 8×8 units.

Valued between $300 million and $600 million, the agreement covers training, maintenance, and technical support. The advanced armored vehicles will improve mobility, enhance counter-insurgency operations, and strengthen security along the Afghanistan border.

Equipped to withstand landmines and IED attacks, these vehicles will also play a critical role in troop transportation and reconnaissance missions.
