Massive Fire Engulfs Basement of Rawalpindi Plaza, 11-Hour Rescue Operation Ends Successfully

Rawalpindi:** A sudden fire broke out in the basement warehouse of a four-story plaza located on **City Saddar Road**, forcing **Rescue 1122** firefighters to battle the blaze for **11 hours** before bringing it under control.
According to rescue officials, the operation faced significant challenges due to the lack of proper access and ventilation in the basement. More than **50 personnel** and **13 emergency vehicles** were deployed, using foam-mixed water to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The basement, used as a warehouse, contained a large quantity of flammable goods, which made the firefighting effort more difficult. **District Emergency Officer Engineer Sabghatullah** was present at the site, supervising the continuous operation.
During the fire, water from **WASA Rawalpindi** was called in to assist the firefighters. Smoke injectors were installed in holes made in the basement ceiling to vent out smoke, while cooling operations were simultaneously conducted through the same openings.
Authorities continue to monitor the site to ensure safety and prevent any further flare-ups. 🚒🔥
